Apple Pickin' '09

My mom, Caleb, Joshua and I headed out to Lewin Farm in Calverton to do a little apple picking. The weather in the morning was pleasant with some amazing clouds filling the sky. The apples were delightfully ripe and the picking was fun. Joshua had to hold an apple in his hand whether it was ripe or rotten (thankfully he didn't think to eat any of them). Getting pictures was a bit of a challege with Joshua not wanting to sit still- surprise, surprise. This was my mom's first time apple picking and I think she had the most fun. As we were heading out with our harvested apples I had a chance to watch Caleb try to run and catch my mom as she had Joshua on her shoulders. All three of them were running and laughing and I was suddenly overwhelmed with a feeling of gratefulness for my family and all the blessings I have been given. I prayed that God would let me keep the memories of this day forever.

Gone Baby Gone

Caleb started his first day of nursery school today. I wasn't sure how the morning was going to go as far as him letting me leave the school without him. Well, I guess his attachment has become much less, since I received a hug and swift, "bye" before he surveyed the classroom. I walked out content that he was content, yet waiting for the nervousness to grip him. Needless to say the moment did not occur when I was there- the boy didn't even look back. So he will go m-w-f mornings and hopefully enjoy himself to no end. Have fun today Caleb. We all love you very much.

He's One!

Joshua is one. We celebrated his birthday with an old fashioned backyard b-b-q. Heath grilled up hamburgers and hot dogs, Connie supplied the salads and my neighbor was nice enough to lend us her big blow up water slide. My mom was there to help Heath as he grilled and lent us her stereo to fill the yard with music. The party was filled with friends, family and neighbors and, in my opinion, went perfectly. There are so many more people who helped the party go off without a hitch and to them I give my heartfelt thank you. It was so nice to see everyone, watch all the kids play and celebrate one terrific little boy. Happy Birthday Joshua!

B. Zoo Baby

Caleb and I had a chance to get away for a nice day together at the Bronx Zoo. The weather was mild, the company was sweet and the day was nothing short of perfect. The animals were all very cooperating and posed for some pictures. The peacocks were looking for their peahens and so were eager to show their tail feathers.
Caleb was like a kid in a candy store when we came to the Children's Zoo: running into the gopher holes, climbing up the spider web, sliding down the tree slide and feeding the animals. It made me smile to see him smile and I was happy and sad at the same time. It was nice to be just the two of us because that is such a rarity these days but it was also sad not be able to share his excitement with others.
The sea lions were happy to see us and let us know by letting out some nice, loud noises. Caleb wanted to ride on the camels but the line was soooo long (at least that is what I told him :) The Bronx Zoo has a new playground across from the giraffes so while Caleb was climbing up some apparatus' I was able to catch a shot of a baby giraffe. We plan to make this trip a regular thing now that we have our passes. Anytime anyone would like to come along, please know that you are always welcome.

Challenge '09

All too often people dwell on the negative things that happen in their lives. Well here is a challenge set before all of you bloggers and facebook junkies alike. List 5 blessings in your life. This should be an easy challenge since there are so many things that I think we have all been blessed with. You can make it as in depth or as simple as you like. The challenge is set, who is up to it?

MY BLESSINGS:

1. My Health: although I have recently experienced a bit of a snag in this area, it also came with a blessing. The timing of the most recent gall bladder attack that sent me to the hospital was perfect. Joshua was able to be weaned with ease, Caleb was well taken care of and Heath got to spend some special quality time with the boys. The stay also made me see another side of Heath, which leads me to...

2. My Husband: apart from being a wonderful man, Heath is a wonderful father. He stepped up to the plate willingly when we needed him. He isn't afraid to get his hands dirty by cleaning spit up or taking care of dirty diapers as well as getting up at all hours of the night to help with whatever task I need help with. He also is wonderful at letting me know how much he misses and needs me when we are not together.

3. My Family: this is a big one. My family is always there for us, whether I need someone to talk to, help with the kids, help with my house, a hot meal...the list is endless really. My family is an invaluable resource for us and is truly my pillar of strength. I would like to stress that my family includes everyone with whom I am privileged to be related to. Parents, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles etc.

4. My Extended Family: And by this I mean my in-laws. I could not have been more fortunate when I married Heath and received the blessing of his family. They are loving, supporting, caring, there whenever we are in need. They are endless supply of whatever we may be in need of. I would like to also note that when I say in-laws I really mean to include: sister-in- laws, brother-in-laws, cousins, aunts, uncles and so on.

5. My Children: Caleb and Joshua bring a wonderful new dimension to my life. They made me a mom. This is a side of me that was born with Caleb's first breath and will continue until the day I take my last. They supply my life with love and exploration, challenges that I embrace and laughter that lights my life. This blessing is the most wonderful because it comes with a chance to raise a fresh life. To watch the wonder in their eyes as they discover the world around them and to be blessed to be the one to show them all that they can be.

I AM BLESSED IMMEASURABLY. APART FROM THE 5 BLESSINGS LISTED ABOVE I MUST ALSO STATE THAT IT IS BY THE GRACE OF GOD THAT I AM GIVEN ALL OF THESE THINGS. I HOPE TO TAKE NOTHING FOR GRANTED BUT I FEAR THAT I DO EVERYDAY. BEING ABLE TO JOT DOWN A SMALL PART OF MY BLESSINGS IS A GOOD WAY TO REMEMBER THAT AS LONG AS I HAVE THESE THINGS, THERE ISN'T MUCH MORE THAT I NEED.

We had Caleb's third birthday party yesterday at Sean and Lisha's house. The weather was chilly but that didn't stop the kids from braving the cold and playing outdoors. The house was full of family and friends and Caleb seemed to have a wonderful time. Thank you to everyone who was able to come to the party, you all made Caleb's birthday super special. Happy Birthday Caleb-man, we all love you very much :).

O Holy Night

Tia and Ryan (being the Tia and Ryan that they are) decided this year to have a live Nativity Scene at their house, complete with barnyard friends. The night was cold, but not the kind that freezes the tears to your face as they leave your eyes...thankfully. Many Terrys were involved in the making of this wonderful recreation: Tommy and Andrew were wise men (go figure), U. Tom, Rachael and Phoebe were angles, and Noah and Micah were the shepherds. Ryan represented Joseph, Tia's friend Sarah played a very pregnant Mary, Ryan's father and sister sang some beautiful Christmas Caroles as Tia narrated this creative reenactment. The piece d'resistance had to be Sherian Terry who played a very disgruntled inn keeper opening the door with a ferocious, "WHAT DO YOU WANT?!" It was a wonderful night, hopefully one that they will do again :).

Public Outcry

I am going a bit mad and I need some opinions from all my loyal readers. To all of you out there who at one point in your lives have or have had two children: how did you do it? How did you get through the day or string of days with two children who are either sick or just clingy? How did you dive into pile of overflowing laundry, washing, drying and folding? Stay enough on top of your house to have it not implode on you? To walk into your house and not want to hide your head in shame at the amount of clutter all around but still can't find energy to do anything about it? To be so overloaded with errands that even when you accomplish a few there are still ten more waiting in its place? How do you handle hurricane husband that comes in a night and destroys any amount of order you were able to establish that day (not a dis on you Heath, just a fact of live. Love you, honey :)) And then, how do you keep your mind from wandering to the person who has more children than you and seems to be handling it all just fine?

I can step back, take a breath, realize I am not wonder woman, and tackle one thing at a time but in a world where things are always happening the list will, in reality, never get shorter. Where do you find the time to devote to you? To remember just a small portion of the things you like to do, and maybe find time to do it, even if it is as simple as showering alone? This is a feeling I know that people go through, all the time, but having two kids need your attention all the time... a baby who won't give you a break and a preschooler just being a preschooler in need of your attention too. What do you do? Real advice moms, that's what I'm looking for. Wait it out isn't working... let him cry gives me a headache and wears on my patients for the other one. Give me something- those of you with this experience under your belt- that will get me through to the next impossible day. Or maybe just tell me a time you were as frazzled as I was, because although I know we all go through it, it is great to hear about it and solidify the fact that I am not alone. Thank you.

Dancing!

When you dance around the house it is mandatory to dance wild and free. To dance with complete abandon, with a blanket on your head. A baby blanket tied to look like a long bandanna, that you can swing around to the tune blasting through the house. The same blanket that your mom just took off her own head and place on your head to capture these cute shots.

Lucky for your mom, she had to be one the taking the pictures and not the one caught with the baby blanket on her head dancing wild and free with complete abandon. These moments are fleeting. Soon enough Caleb will be wielding a camera of his own and perhaps by then the obligation to dance with a blanket on your head will no longer be mandatory :).

Before heading up to see Amy and her family, Heath, Caleb, Joshua and I flew into Fort Lauderdale to visit my cousin and her family. We all had a good time eating a delicious homemade baked ziti, enjoying the warm weather and just spending time with each other. Caleb and his cousin Alexa had the most fun of all. They played so well together. Joshua was passed around happily and posed for some photos in his Dolphins gear. Heath chatted about baseball with cousin Joe and I enjoyed capturing it all on film. Thank you for your hospitality Chrissy. We'd like to do it again soon!

October in NY is a time for picking: apples, pumpkins, peaches etc. So since we are New Yorkers who are we to buck tradition? So far we have picked two out of three of the above mentioned. Perhaps next week we can try our hand at peaches...if it is not too late.

Sesame Place

Sean, Lisha, Diane and Reed invited Heath, myself, Caleb, Joshua, Dave and Connie to accompany them to Sesame Place for the weekend. The weather couldn't have been better. Since we were in Pennsylvania, Heath thought of calling up Jason and Reina to see if they could join us as well. Unfortunately Reina was on call but Jason was able to bring Neela down for the day.

Day one was fun. Caleb, Neela and Reed all got along very well. They played on all of the rides they were able to climb on or swim in but the kids didn't seem very interested in riding any- although Neela did enjoy the carousel. The kids were able to get pictures with some of the characters such as Grover and Bert. None of them seemed to be too scared of the over sized characters, maybe just a little standoffish at times. Jason cut out a little earlier than the rest of us since Neela was overdue for her nap. It was great to be able to have the kids all play together and hopefully we will see them again soon. Day one came to a close with Caleb playing one of the carnival games and winning two stuffed penguins which we had upgraded for one cute stuffed worm, who is now named Tiddler.

The weather was a little warmer for day two but the kids didn't let that slow them down. Caleb and Reed had a bit of a treat in the late afternoon- a Dan Zanes concert! Both boys had a blast, and so did the adults. Caleb was in his zone clapping and dancing along to the music. Reed joined in the fun as did Sean, Lisha and myself. Heath watched Joshua as he slept and Connie took some pictures. The concert was great and after all that dancing what could have been better than a cooling and relaxing ride on the lazy river? Sean and Lisha took Caleb and Reed around and afterward we all enjoyed a bit of ice cream. Unfortunately Sean was given the smallest ice cream cone known to man. He seemed to enjoy it all the same.

The trip was a huge success and I hope we can do it again next year! Please enjoy the smallest of snippets of the pictures that were taken.

First Day of School

Caleb started a pre, pre-school class today. He will be going one day a week for the next 16 weeks. The class is only an hour and a half but I was a little nervous that he wouldn't let me leave the since he has had some attachment issues lately. I guess between all the words of preparation and encouragement and knowing the teacher, he adjusted just fine. There was a minor 30 second meltdown when I left but after that I was told he was a great listener and did just fine. Nice work Caleb!

Sick Kids= Sick Mommy

First Caleb got a cough, then Joshua got one too. Next thing you know both boys had runny, stuffed noses -go figure that one out- and a slight cough and at times a low grade fever. I on the other hand, was feeling well and good and able to take care of both ailing boys rather well. That is until last night, when they started to feel better and I worse. But alas, there is no one to take care of me, so as the boys' health is improving and they look to me for entertainment I muddle through trying desperately not to use up all my tissues.

My neighbor came by with some dinner, just out of sure luck for me. Caleb has been on good behavior and Joshua loves to sleep, so although it was tough, it looks like I will make it through the day in a scenario I know will repeat itself 100 times over. Pray for me...

Joshua in a Dress?

My Aunt Cathy is convinced that Joshua looks just like me. I, on the other hand, thought Caleb was the spitting image of me when he was born, so how could Joshua be, since Caleb and Joshua look like brothers, but not exactly twins. For my birthday I received a Maxiglide hair straightener. You may have seen this jewel on an infomercial, let me just tell you if you were thinking of ordering it...do it. This thing is great, straightened my hair in ten minutes, held up to a hair tie and a nights sleep. This was not the point of my story though...

Caleb came into the bathroom when I was straightening my hair. He asked what I was doing and I told him I was taking the curl out and asked him if he liked it. He looked at me thoughtfully and said, "Yes mom, I do like it. You look just like Leah." I take that as a compliment. I wanted to put a picture of me with the straight do up on the blog but I couldn't figure out how to take a picture of myself in such a way that you could see the Leah resemblance. I will have to have Caleb snap the photo...

Caleb has a baby bear. His name is Blue Bear and he is Caleb's baby boy. When Blue Bear cries Caleb dances with him. When he is fussy Caleb puts Blue Bear on the play mat and lays with him until he is happy again. And when he is tired, Caleb lays Blue Bear on his bed, with a blanket for a rest. Caleb is a good daddy.

I had a little time on my hands, don't ask me how, so I put together a little collage for our wall of some pictures that Connie had printed out for us from time to time, as well as some that I had taken myself and other new ones that were taken but not printed out yet. What a sentence! Anyway, Here is the finish product:
It is poster sized, 20x24 if I remember correctly. The shine on the middle picture is the flash that I don't know how to get rid of. I think it came out pretty well. It didn't take too much time to put together either. I think the hardest part was choosing the pictures. I hope you guys enjoy it :).

My First Multi-Child Fiasco

Well I had my first impossible situation today and of course it had to do with bodily fluids.
I had finished feeding Joshua and noticed him about to be fully asleep so I set him down in his "bed" with his pacifier. Then I noticed Caleb needed a fresh diaper. I am about to change Caleb and I hear Joshua start to fuss so I think his pacifier probably feel out. I make my way to his "bed" to reinsert the pacifier and find Joshua swimming in about a pound of milk. Spit up milk of course. So, I grab him and start to strip him, and the "bed" down. I have him on the changing table and Caleb laying on the bed waiting for his new diaper. I figured I could leave Joshua on the table for a second while I finished up Caleb. That is until I remove Caleb's pants to discover poop on the inside of his legs and his diaper about one more ounce of pee away from bursting.
Now I have Joshua crying, half dressed with spit up milk all over his face, and Caleb half dressed with poop running down his legs. Well this was a balancing act if I do say so myself. If looking on the scene it might have seemed like a well thought out dance number. A free flowing run from child to child, shower to sink, towel to towel. I have to say I kept my cool and was able to have two showered children, with fresh clothes that did not smell like either poop or spit up.
I call it a small victory.

VBAC: A Survivor's Story

As all of you have heard by now, Joshua has arrived! I had resigned myself to the fact that I would be having another c-section on Monday July 7th. I had done all the things you could try to naturally induce myself before that date and had started and stopped contractions for days. So with the c-section date in such close proximity I told myself there was nothing more I could do and had come to terms with the inevitable. Well, Joshua apparently wasn't feeling the same way.

Heath, Caleb and I had gone to my aunts house for a fourth of July celebration. We left about 8pm for home figuring Caleb had a long day and was ready for bed (which he was, he fell asleep in the car on the way home). I was having some contractions but it was nothing out of the ordinary so I cleaned the house a bit and laid down for a rest. About 10pm I woke up from a contraction which had never happened before so I felt slightly encouraged. Still not ready to accept the fact that this might be true labor I went back to sleep. At 11pm I was woken up again by a contraction and thought that maybe this was it. When I felt some discomfort from the contraction I stood up to see if that would make it go away and as soon as I did I knew I was in real labor. My contraction intensified. I still wasn't quite ready to wake up Heath so I called our doula Jessica and told her she may want to start on her way (she was coming from Sag Harbor). About 12am I woke Heath, who then called the doctor and then the doula again to tell her to meet us straight at the hospital. We reached St. Charles hospital, (which I like to refer to as the Hilton, they are just the greatest there), and found out that I was four centimeters dilated. So this was it!

Our journey began at the hospital and 1am and continued on till 10:35am when Joshua David arrived on the scene. I did have an epidural which took most of the edge off but there was still some discomfort, that is until 10 centimeters when I could have sworn my epidural had been replaced with pitocin. Once it was time to push I was all business. They said that women average pushing a first baby out in about 3 hours and that just wasn't good enough for me. When I was allowed to push I did so with such gusto that I broke blood vessels all over my face and in both eyes, but an hour and a half later I was done. Joshua was out in a flash. Once they were able to see a quarter of his head it only took about 3 pushes more. I have to say that although I looked like I had been punched in the face and lost so much blood I needed a transfusion, the recovery is still better than if I had had a c-section.

Our doula Jess was invaluable in the labor process and our mid-wife Michele was a God sent. Anyone attempting a vbac should feel confident in their ability to do so. I was told by one doctor that I would never be able to deliver a baby bigger than 8 pounds 5 ounces, I was just too small. Well, to that doctor I would just like to say, I'd like to introduce you to my son Joshua David Terry: 8pounds 11ounces, 21 1/4 inches long!

Tardiness...A Sign of Things to Come?

Ok, eight days after the EDD here I sit, with an 8 pound baby pressing all the recesses of my frame. Is this a foreshadowing of things to come with this boy? Is he making an early statement and saying, "I will NOT be one of those early risers! You will have to shake and pour water on me to get me to emerge into the land of the living on a regular basis. I will be eternally late to functions and I will be the last one in the car." Perhaps this delay in birth is a good thing considering I might have to say, "Joshua, let's go!" more times in my life than not, so why not just carry him around with me as long as I can to save my own sanity. Maybe I should be thanking him for this in site now so I have no reason to be shocked later. Perhaps he is the smartest unborn in the universe, already communicating on an adult level...or maybe I am just going crazy and trying not to lose control and tear him out with my bare hands...! Whoa, where did that come from...sorry guys, OK I'm back...I'm going to lay down... at least we know he will be emerging at the latest Monday...

A Father's Day Gift

Heath asked for a bike for Father's Day, and so Caleb and I obliged. Along with the bike we also purchased a seat for Caleb, which was broken in on the very first day of the bike's arrival. Both boys seemed to have a great time. Heath and Caleb were able to chit chat on their ride and bond as only father and son can on a bike. All and all it seemed to be the perfect present, for a great guy on his special day. Happy Father's Day all!

Ah, To Be Four Again...

Rachael had a birthday party this weekend to celebrate turning four. The usuals were there minus Connie and Dave who were in Florida, hiding in the air conditioning. The weather was decent enough for the kids to go out and play on the swing set and with a bit of silly string. I guess being at a fourth birthday party made some of the older kids feel a little nostalgic of their own time when they could swing without a care in the world, never having to worry what people were thinking of them (see picture of Noah below). Others did not seem so happy to have their picture taken at a time when they might also have been reliving their youth (see picture of Phoebe below). The kids got along very well together, which for the most part is always the case. Presents were opened with much enthusiasm. Kyle had his birthday party last night. His parents were nice enough to volunteer their place for the bash. All the usual suspects were there, minus a sick Sean Terry family and Emma and Jonah who were flying the friendly skies back to England. The do-flunkies were there in abundance until they found their way in front of me and then they were doomed. There was a chocolate birthday cake made by Carolyn and a lemon coffee cake made by Grammie K. They both looked scrumptious. The kids all played well together and so did the adults for that matter. Have a great 11th year Kyle, you deserve it!

Today all the local family was invited to celebrate the Passover Holiday at Sweet Donna and Uncle Ray Ray's house. The Sader meal was a first for most of the guests in attendance. It came complete with explanations of the items that were presented on our plate; the unleavened bread symbolizing the Jews quick retreat from Egypt, the bitter herbs representing the bitterness of their enslavement etc. Ray Ray lent his voice to a rendition of "Let My People Go" and the children helped with the story of Mosses and his plight with Pharaoh to, let his people go. All ten plagues were rained down upon us as Keira used props to send the message home, (the tastiest of all the plagues had to be the boils which fell in the form of M&M's). It was a enjoyable dinner with the extended family, and maybe a new tradition has begun... we can only wait till next year to see.

I have updated on this blog at various times about a little boy named Ethan who was battling Leukemia. Ethan passed away this Saturday. He was just over a year old. He was diagnosed when he was just 3 months old and had had two bone marrow transplants. The Leukemia was strong and his small body just couldn't fight any more. This prayer request is for his parents. Ethan is now at peace and in the presence of the Lord, but his parents must struggle on without their sweet baby boy. They are continuing to update on Ethan's blog about other children at St. Jude's that need your prayers and plan to set up the Ethan Powell Foundation, which will be 100% non-profit to raise money to fight childhood cancer. Please pray for any peace and comfort that can be given to this unbelievable family in their time of great sorrow. On Wednesday, Emma, Jonah, Sam, Caleb and I went to the Children's Museum of the East End. The weather was quite frightful with a cold blustery wind and bone chilling rain, but the 5 of us braved the elements and enjoyed a nice afternoon at the almost empty Museum. The boys seemed to have a fun time exploring all the things the Museum had to offer, from the grocery store to the fire truck. Caleb most enjoyed using the magnets to create a picture on the wall as well as the musical instruments. Jonah was feeling more incline to explore all parts of the Museum as fast as he could, which kept Emma on her toes. Sam was his mellow self and rolled along wherever the little ones happened to wander. It was a cute museum, one I definitely think we will venture to again:

Michael's school had a carnival with games set around keeping our earth clean. A literal boat load of Terry's gathered together and crossed over the Long Island Sound. After arriving and picking our jaws up off the snowy grass, we entered the Reinmund's new place of residence and gave ourselves a tour. Finished basement, five bedrooms, 6 bathrooms (if I counted right), and a finished attic, not too shabby if you like that Daddy Warbucks type of living establishment.

Kaia was full of smiles for all, until she was manhandled into wearing her princess birthday hat (I don't think she likes labels). The house was full of adults which I believed may have been out numbered by children (if not outnumbered it was at least very close), and a ton of delicious food including soups, sandwiches, quiche, vegetables, fondue, chips, cake, cookies and my personal favorite, raisinettes YUM!

Soon it was time to gather the boatload of Terry's and head back to Long Island. The day was long but quite enjoyable. We are thinking about having Caleb's third birthday in Trumbull along with maybe Joshua's birth, dedication, and well perhaps his first 18 years of life, it is still up for discussion. I have a feeling though if we snuck in the house and took over a floor, Markus and Keira may never find us.

There are still two houses for sale on their block, each one as big and lovely, from the outside at least, so anyone interested in relocation, I think you may want to check it out.

Caleb Bakes

So, when you open a cabinet and see two boxes of cake mix staring back at you, the next logical step is to start baking. Being the smart diabetic that I am, I thought a better option than making a huge cake I'd be sure to take massive chunks out of, was to make mini muffins, since then I could pop one and move on with my day, not feeling too guilty. So Caleb and I got to baking as Heath manded the camera for some memorable first baking experience shots.

The funny part about the muffin making night with Caleb was the fact that he didn't want to get any of the batter on him, so the usual pictures of the kid with batter encompassing his mouth and surrounding areas, was not to be. But I think they were cute anyway in an obsessive compulsive cleanliness way...

So when you have a mom who is in love with winter and she sees a heap of snow in the backyard, it is safe to assume that you will be layered and playing in the snow even before you eat breakfast. The real question is, how in love with snow is P. Caleb? The answer: some what. It was fun to walk around in but when he fell in the snow he was less thrilled. The funniest part was his most favorite thing to do was to be hit with snow balls. Of course the camera ran out of battery so I couldn't capture his reaction but something tells me we will be re-charged and back out in the snow before lunch. Enjoy the snow everyone!!

A good friend of the family is going to have triple bypass surgery on Monday. His name is K.J. and he is not only the family chiropractor but also a friend. I say the family chiropractor because he has treated my mother, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, brother, aunt and myself. He is the type of person that you could talk to about anything and at times it seems that you can't stop yourself. He is also a very giving person; he gave Caleb the fish lamp pictures above. Caleb would go into his office every visit and turn on and off that fish lamp. When K.J. had to close up shop he gave Caleb these fish because he knew he liked them so much. K.J. is in very good hands with the surgeon who is preforming the surgery and we are all sure he will come through this with flying colors, still it never hurts to throw a small prayer upwards to assure a skilled surgeon's hand and a speedy recovery. So that is what is being asked of all you Nationalist. Please keep K.J. in your thoughts and prayers these next few days and especially Monday morning when he goes in for his procedure. Soooo, as everyone knows, yesterday was Superbowl Sunday. And what a Superbowl it was! It was a nailbiter to say the least. Throw in a TV that decided to reboot mid-game and you have a bit of organized chaos with over 30 adults scrambling to set themselves infront of the other two TV's that were still functioning.

With all the good food, tons of friends and family in attendance, the fact that you can focus all your attention on a football game and no one would expect any different, no need to dress up, and the excitement you feel throughout the day, Heath and I have decided that Superbowl Sunday is our favorite Holiday.

The Queen finally remembered on a Tuesday that she could do a heads or tails so here it is. There have been a few things going on in the castle since the last heads or tails:
1. The Queen can FEEL the littlest addition kicking her. Thankfully being on the size of a turnip it doesn't hurt.
2. The King and Queen have decided to put their house on the market. They SAW a realtor yesterday and have started the process of unloading the castle, (a very bittersweet time for the Queen).
3. P. Caleb has started swimming lessons and I believe people in Florida could have HEARD him crying about getting in the water. But 5 minutes into the terrible ordeal he actually stopped crying and started having some fun.
4. Due to the newest addition the Queen once again has the gestational diabetes but everything has been going wonderfully for her since she started TASTING this dark green liquid called, you guess it, liquid greens.
5. The King and Queen have been thinking about trying once again, to potty train the Prince. They just can't take the SMELL of those diapers anymore. (Smell was a hard one to complete. I know it is a stretch for an update but I was at a loss).

Yesterday was Micah's 6th birthday. Andrew and Lissa threw an intimate family gathering of about 20. The family was treated to pizza, chips and a beautifully made cake designed and baked by Lissa. The Queen couldn't help indulging herself in a little pizza and chips, so to ward off any high blood sugar numbers the King and Honorable A. Sherian accompanied the Queen on a nice walk around the block (it should be noted that Andrew started off with the group but since he came without a coat he quickly retreated back into the warm house). Micah was given many nice gifts including money, games and clothes. The highlight of the evening was watching Micah get his 7 bumps in honor of his 6th birthday and one for good luck. Auntie Em and Lissa did the honors and everyone, including Micah, seemed to enjoy it. Thanks for the invite Lissa and Andrew and happy birthday Micah!

3 Weeks

Here is the latest sonogram of the newest Terry babe. In just three weeks there have been some noticeable changes. It actually resembles a human at this point. One of the only benefits of having gestational diabetes is that we all get to this little beauty a lot more than we are supposed to. The big news may be coming at the end of January/early February, which of course would be whether we are going to call this little being Hannah or Joshua. After that, if I remember correctly, there will be weekly sonograms starting at about month 8. As for now the Kingdom couldn't be happier knowing that everything is on schedule and looks good. This little one was very active. P. Caleb was present to see the baby and sat, mouth agape staring at the screen. The baby would jump and kick and P. Caleb would do the same. It was very sweet.

This was the first year that P. Caleb went door to door trick or treating and he did very well. Equipped with his entourage, the King and Queen, both the King's Mum and Queen's Mum and with his Uncle Joe a.k.a the Knight, P. Caleb traveled the children filled community for and hour and a half. Although the Queen was a bit concerned that the Prince's shyness would cut into his bravery, she was pleasantly surprised by Caleb's eagerness to run to each house to acquire candy. He said trick or treat loud enough for people to actually hear and said thank you upon the acquisition. His favorite items were lollipops and pretzels, though he wasn't given any candy to eat.
At one of the houses was a giant dancing Frankenstein which Caleb was more than happy to dance along with. When he finally rang the door bell the first thing he said to the home owner was, "look at this!" as he pointed to Frank.
Overall P. Caleb made out with a pretty good amount of candy. He was content to wear his costume and walk the neighborhood and seemed to really enjoy himself. Until next year, Happy Halloween all!

Ethan Update

October 31- Day 264

2nd Update/3:42pm [Ben] What I am about to share with you may bring you to think this is the end of the road. But as far as I am concerned... it is not.

They have found a legion in his brain, and they cannot tell if it is active or inactive. Either way, if the seizures do not subside they will do brain surgery. In addition, the seizures would prevent him from getting CHEMO. On top of that, medically speaking the CHEMO is needed more than ever because we now have the results of the test. The LEUKEMIA has now jumped to 20% with my cells being the remaining 80%. And that is even after my boost of cells. All in all, I would say the one positive thing to share is that he is still alive and hasn't seized today. As we learn more we will update.

THROUGH PRAYER, ETHAN WILL OVERCOME THIS! So with that said... I will encourage you to take a knee with me and BeLIeVe... PRAYER WORKS!!!

Head's or Tails Tuesday: Halloween

P. Caleb has had two Halloween parties this year. I don't think he gets why everyone is walking around wearing funny outfits but he is easy going enough to participate in the insanity. Both parties were held at Mommy and Me which we refer to as "school". He loves it there and was so happy to bring in some cookies for all his friends. He told his Grammie about that today. Along with some photos from his parties we have also included the two pumpkins that were carved on Sunday. Now you may be thinking, I thought there was a whole wheelbarrow full of pumpkins to carve, why only two? Well, here is the answer inquiring minds: due to the lack of cold weather this fall season, the pumpkins started to rot. Salvageable were these two, I'm sure if the desire to carve was great enough more could have been hacked into but the Queen was the only one interested in carving this year and two was enough for her. October 24- Day 257

3rd update/ 6:40pm [Becky] We finally heard back from the labs. There's good news! Okay, I will try to explain it, but I'm still not sure I understand it completely. The results from this week are the same as they were last week. Last week there were a few white cells and a few of them looked to be leukemia cells, but since there were so few, they couldn't do further testing on them. So this week since the results are the same, they don't believe the "odd" looking cells to be leukemia. PRAISE GOD!! It's very much over my head. All I know is, our doctor called and said he is not worried about it being leukemia (in the spine.) We will continue to do the weekly chemo in the spine to be cautious and as a preventative measure. It's been a stressful day waiting for results, but please say a "Thank you" prayer on Ethan's behalf for the confusing, but good, test results. :)
Next week he's scheduled to have another spinal and a bone marrow asperate. Next Wednesday is a very important day, and not because it's Halloween. :) The results of those tests will tell us what's going on in the marrow. PLEASE PRAY for great results! For today, we say a huge "thank you" to God! BeLIeVe!! PRAYER WORKS!!

October 18- Day 250

1st Update/3:07pm [Ben] - Imagine reliving your worst nightmare many times over the course of 250 days. Every morning you wake up to find that your child is slowly dying and you can do absolutely nothing to stop it. You depend on an invisible being and you have to put all of your trust and your faith into knowing that HE will provide. That is where I am right now. And as scary as it is I DO STILL BELIEVE THAT GOD CAN AND WILL HEAL! I am asking that you stand behind MARK 11:21-23 and ask that GOD HEAL ETHAN! The next 3 weeks will tell us more about whether the doctors expect him to live or whether or not they will give us a life expectancy.

Ethan is now at his last option. A few minutes ago they gave him more of my cells. (We have been working frantically and fast.) These cells did not work the first time. So basically, this doesn't seem to me like it will work. THE ONLY THING THAT WILL WORK IS PRAYER. Things are a bit complicated here, I will update as I have the opportunities. Becky is going to step away from updates awhile to spend more time with Ethan. Please! Please! Please! Fire up the prayer chain. Call up your churches and friends, get together and pray. I am typing through tears asking for you to do one thing.... BeLIeVe! PRAYER WORKS!!!

If there was ever a time where you believed in God, please pray to Him now. This little boy was diagnosed at three months, went into remission for a few months and now the cancer has return. He is only 10 months old.

As promised here are the pictures of this year's pumpkin picking adventure. P. Caleb and Reed seemed to have a great time exploring the pumpkin patch and each other. The Royal family filled up another wheelbarrow full this year, and P. Caleb tried his hand at pushing them but got a little carried away. The weather was warm for most of the morning, mid 70's, but by the afternoon the wind kicked up and it finally felt like fall. Coming sometime in the near future...Pumpkin carving!
