Heads or Tails Tuesday: The Five Senses

RANDOM PICTURE: JUST THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY, NOTHING TO DO WITH THE POST: PLEASE READ ON...

The Queen finally remembered on a Tuesday that she could do a heads or tails so here it is. There have been a few things going on in the castle since the last heads or tails:
1. The Queen can FEEL the littlest addition kicking her. Thankfully being on the size of a turnip it doesn't hurt.
2. The King and Queen have decided to put their house on the market. They SAW a realtor yesterday and have started the process of unloading the castle, (a very bittersweet time for the Queen).
3. P. Caleb has started swimming lessons and I believe people in Florida could have HEARD him crying about getting in the water. But 5 minutes into the terrible ordeal he actually stopped crying and started having some fun.
4. Due to the newest addition the Queen once again has the gestational diabetes but everything has been going wonderfully for her since she started TASTING this dark green liquid called, you guess it, liquid greens.
5. The King and Queen have been thinking about trying once again, to potty train the Prince. They just can't take the SMELL of those diapers anymore. (Smell was a hard one to complete. I know it is a stretch for an update but I was at a loss).

Head's or Tails Tuesday: Halloween

P. Caleb has had two Halloween parties this year. I don't think he gets why everyone is walking around wearing funny outfits but he is easy going enough to participate in the insanity. Both parties were held at Mommy and Me which we refer to as "school". He loves it there and was so happy to bring in some cookies for all his friends. He told his Grammie about that today. Along with some photos from his parties we have also included the two pumpkins that were carved on Sunday. Now you may be thinking, I thought there was a whole wheelbarrow full of pumpkins to carve, why only two? Well, here is the answer inquiring minds: due to the lack of cold weather this fall season, the pumpkins started to rot. Salvageable were these two, I'm sure if the desire to carve was great enough more could have been hacked into but the Queen was the only one interested in carving this year and two was enough for her. So we hope you enjoy the photos. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Heads or Tails Tuesday: Explore

As promised here are the pictures of this year's pumpkin picking adventure. P. Caleb and Reed seemed to have a great time exploring the pumpkin patch and each other. The Royal family filled up another wheelbarrow full this year, and P. Caleb tried his hand at pushing them but got a little carried away. The weather was warm for most of the morning, mid 70's, but by the afternoon the wind kicked up and it finally felt like fall. Coming sometime in the near future...Pumpkin carving!

Heads or Tails Tuesday: Stack

This is the STACK of pumpkins that the Nationalists of Caleb Nation were able to haul off last year from our local pumpkin patch. Sunday it will be time for the Terrys (and who ever else would like to come) to hit the patch again. Will we fill more than one wheelbarrow this year? Something tells me no...

Heads or Tails Tuesday: Pet Peeves

That actual topic for this week was pet(s) or pet peeves. I think the Royal family has written enough on the topic of its pets so this week we look at pet peeves. The Queen has many admitted pet peeves but one on the very top of her list is punctuality, or lack there of.

The Queen gained an amazing family when she married the King. They are sweet, loving, caring, the list goes on and on. The one thing they are NOT however is punctual. "1pm" means 2 pm, "I'll be there soon", could mean an hour or two and "I'll be right back", well that is a joke. Getting into the mind set of setting a time one to two hours before you REALLY have to leave has become something of a ritual now, unfortunately once the Queen says the words out loud, such as "let's leave at 1:30", no matter how hard she tries to tell herself, "you will be leaving at 2:30, you know this and that is OK", it is really hard for her mind to register. Now since the majority of Caleb Nation readers are of the King's heritage I hope no offense will be taken. Perhaps none will since this punctuality problem is very well known.

One of two things will most likely happen in the Queen's life concerning this issue: either the guilty parties will try to reform their lackadaisical ways or the Queen will have to roll with the bruising punches, something tells me, being 3 years into this issue, that it will be the latter. Ho hum...

Heads or Tails Tuesday: Key(s)

Key, Key, Key...this word has haunted the Castle for a week now, what to write, what to write....so many choices. The Key to sanity, a happy life, the back door... So we drew from a hat...and the winner is:

THE KEY TO GETTING A TODDLER TO STOP HITTING THE AUTHORITIES (A.K.A The KING AND QUEEN).

Here is the ROYAL twist to this Heads or Tails Tuesday. Please hit us with your best advice. This will have to be somewhat of a creative answer since all the obvious ones have been tried: time out, reasoning (We don't hit you so don't hit us), empathy (it hurts when you hit mommy and daddy, that makes us feel sad)...so c'mon out there in the Kingdom, let your voices be heard on this HorTT!

Head's or Tails Tuesday: Sept 11th

Instead of focusing on all the terrible things that came from the September 11th tragedy, Caleb Nation would like to take a moment and reflect on the good. In the months that followed 9/11, American banned together like it had never done before. It didn't matter if you were man or a woman, black or white, Yankee fan or Mets. It was enough that we were all American and we were all going through this together. There were thousands of people who came together to raise money, supply food for all the workers at the towers, or volunteer where ever they were needed. People in other states sent supplies, money or just card and letters sending their love and support.

It took a terrible, and devastating American attack to unite the country. There was an atmosphere that was both terribly sad and yet hopeful. Americans are resilient and full of fight. There has NEVER been a truer statement used than United We Stand, Divided We Fall. I am Proud to be an American and I am also proud of the Americans I am surrounded by. The people who lost their lives will never be forgotten. The brave Americans who took the plane back from the hijackers, losing their own lives in Pennsylvania, are a testament to this great country. No terrorist won that day. The small victory they thought they had secured was taken back by the fighting resolve of every American on that day.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Beginnings

One of the places the Queen likes to visit is Skittles' Place. Skittles came up with this great idea for a Tuesday Meme. It is called Heads or Tails Tuesday. Basically you are given a word and you can pretty much do whatever you want with it: write a poem, post a photo, tell a story, whatever. This week the word is "Beginnings". Since the theme of this blog is Caleb, the Queen also has the daunting task of relating the word somehow to him. Anyone who would like to join in please do. It is always fun with more participants. So here we go:

BEGINNINGS

This was Prince Caleb's beginning. Getting him to greet the world was a bit of a challenge. For those of you who don't know here is how his beginning began: Due to medical reasons the doctors thought it best to induce labor on his due date. Unfortunately the people at the hospital forgot to reserve the bed (red flag!) so 2 days sooner the induction began.

Of course with gestational diabetes your blood sugar still has to be monitored even though you are not allowed to eat (go figure). So every few hours a nurse would come in to draw blood. Beside that going on the Queen was also on intravenous antibiotics that was shoved into her left hand, a blood pressure monitor on her right arm, which went off ever hour, plus a heart rate monitor on her finger. Com-for-ta-ble! So picture all that for about 10 hours, add to that a failing epidural and a Queen who is slowly breaking down. Now with all that going on let's add the fact that now 12 hours in, they decide to do a c-section. Now this might sound like a horrible day...but take a look at the picture above and it becomes one fabulous beginning of a wonderful little boy's life...beside, it wasn't THAT bad :)
