One of the places the Queen likes to visit is Skittles' Place. Skittles came up with this great idea for a Tuesday Meme. It is called Heads or Tails Tuesday. Basically you are given a word and you can pretty much do whatever you want with it: write a poem, post a photo, tell a story, whatever. This week the word is "Beginnings". Since the theme of this blog is Caleb, the Queen also has the daunting task of relating the word somehow to him. Anyone who would like to join in please do. It is always fun with more participants. So here we go:
BEGINNINGS
This was Prince Caleb's beginning. Getting him to greet the world was a bit of a challenge. For those of you who don't know here is how his beginning began: Due to medical reasons the doctors thought it best to induce labor on his due date. Unfortunately the people at the hospital forgot to reserve the bed (red flag!) so 2 days sooner the induction began.
Of course with gestational diabetes your blood sugar still has to be monitored even though you are not allowed to eat (go figure). So every few hours a nurse would come in to draw blood. Beside that going on the Queen was also on intravenous antibiotics that was shoved into her left hand, a blood pressure monitor on her right arm, which went off ever hour, plus a heart rate monitor on her finger. Com-for-ta-ble! So picture all that for about 10 hours, add to that a failing epidural and a Queen who is slowly breaking down. Now with all that going on let's add the fact that now 12 hours in, they decide to do a c-section. Now this might sound like a horrible day...but take a look at the picture above and it becomes one fabulous beginning of a wonderful little boy's life...beside, it wasn't THAT bad :)

the end result make it all worth it :) What a great post. I posted a pic of one of my child's first moments for this weeks meme too :) My hardest moment during birth was the nurses trying to find a vein for an IV!!
Look how precious that little face is!!!
Sounds like you had a rough time, but like you said.. it was all worth it. :)
Oh my - the Queen certainly had a tough time of it! But, as you say - the outcome DEFINITELY outweighs any of the difficulties along the way! I have to admit-being only a step-mom and having no children of my own - I find myself getting a bit jealous of the baby stories and pictures... Now, don't get upset - I'm using all of you ;-) I'm going to live my dreams through all of you by watching your children grow ;-) G, I hope you don't mind!
My Queen you had the rough time, Caleb seemed to have a tad bit easier. Nice pictures and story. I love the M&M people!!!
thank you all for stopping by, I have to say the IV was pretty tough, them rooting around for a vein and then having to go into the hand...not fun...but it's all the price you pay I guess.
Shudder -- but what an ending to your 12 hours, a great beginning for your Prince Caleb. Can't help but smile at that face.
oh he is so precious....I would be one of those nurses poking and prouding at you....I am not a LD nurse but rather an ICU nurse and it is the norm NOT to get any sleep when you r a patient in ICU....love your choice for the theme....mine is up...
What a beautiful baby! I wrote about the birth of my children too, but they weren't quite as eventful (painful) as yours.
Aww, he is a cutie! What a rough beginning though, great that it was okay in the end though.
I, for one, will always be grateful for that day. Thank you, Queen!
Hello Jennifer -
Your mom visited my mom (Diana) about two weeks ago and told me about your blog. Your son is just beautiful and I am so happy to hear things are going well.
The picture of you as a little girl brings back such memories of you and your brother.
